Careful with offers like that, some cock might report you to Logitech because they're stupid and get your voucher code withdrawn.

Kind offer though.

There's nothing wrong with Windows XP. I only recently (early September) went onto Windows 7 Ultimate x64 at home after nearly 6 years with Windows XP. The only reason I updated my OS to begin with was because I bought a new HD.

In terms of gaming, XP x64 is better as it requires less system resources than 7 (as in Crysis which ran on my PC fine under XP x86 now stutters from time to time under Windows 7 x64.

Age isn't a problem, it's security, and features, and to the professional user who doesn't care about fancy aero graphics, or a "I'm too lazy/stupid to know where my programs are installed so I can type in the name and it appears", XP is no worse than Windows 7 if it has the latest patches and security fixes.

They suit the Mk4. He's someone on uk-mkivs and alot was spent on getting the wheels sitting right. However they do not suit an MG.

Quote from JazzOn :But you lied when you said you couldn't do anything, right?

Well, kind of. It could have been reset but it would have taken the intervention of a third party at cost. If it was our systems, much like administering a network, you can just do it quite easily so we do it without moaning at the users too much.

Out of 100,000 people who survived the Hiroshima bombings only 400 Cancers were caused directly from the radiation. You can read that in the link I posted in a previous...post..

Discussions with Racer X would be fun if he wasn't inclined to come up with rubbish, which he comes up with to try and make his point have more clout, but just ends up giving it less actual effectiveness because it's so preposterous.

Yes, radiation is very powerful however like MadCatX says it''s very much dependant on many factors......a radioactive leak does not equal a wasteland.

Oh no trouble mate don't shank me.

If their business model is to tell customers to piss off then they won't have business for very long.. As I said there is a way to talk to customers and I think that the response in the OP was rude.

We're past the blame game, we're talking about how to recover from it now..

There won't be a future without nuclear power. Do make a vague effort yadder yadder...

The chances of having these "HUGE DEAD ZONES" as you describe it are like a 0.000002 chance. That is, a complete nuclear breakdown. It's so nice that you seem to only focus on the points which make it seem like we're all going to die. 24,000 years..maybe. Try more like a few centuries in most cases.

This is worth a good read. http://www.physics.isu.edu/radinf/np-risk.htm

I'll teach my kids not to fear things you don't want to embrace. And the good and the negative sides of various subjects and allow them to make their own mind. I'll teach them to be open minded and instil the fact that sometimes for the good of the world and the planet a bit of extra "risk" may be involved..

I won't force them into a way of thinking. God bless your little nippers... wouldn't be surprised if their first words were "car", "map" and "passport". Blatantly a McIntyre joke but oh well.

If I die in an accident no-one will notice as I have no friends.

As I've said I would happily have an nuclear power plant across the street and have no worries about it. Chernobyl was operator error and serious flaws in the system. 24,000 years to an inhabitable state I think not.

As for Japan..it was a NATURAL DISASTER causing a radiological spill. It was not a NUCLEAR REACTOR MELTDOWN or FAILURE or BLAHLABFHLEBFHKBSEHKVBErhkvwerhkv sr..............

Turbos are the answer.

I don't race really anymore, have nothing to prove. At the end of the day you just either win and look like a cock or lose and look like a cock.

I'll play around with people away from the lights in similar cars up to (around) the speedlimit but the last time I went racing I ended up doing 135mph up against an Audi S3. I lost but not by as much as you would imagine (I have a 1.9 TDI Golf Mk5) and was pretty much neck and neck until 90 when it started pulling ahead. Probably the most stupid thing i've done on the road.

Shit happens. Nearly 4,000 people die each year in Britain from road accidents alone, so I suppose we should all stop driving too.

Nuclear is good and clean, answers EVERY SINGLE TICKBOX for the next millenium in terms of power production and environmental factors, it's a safe form of energy as and yet people are still all "no plz no nuclear i grow extra legs and my left ball will turn pink "

Quote from From a random forum :You've got to bear in mind that most folk have no idea that a nuclear power station is simply a steam plant driven by an atomic pile. They think it's some kind of satanic magic that is going to irradiate their babies and cause an invasion of giant crabs etc. And why do they think this? Could it be because the anti-nuclear lobby have relentlessly pushed their demonisation of nuclear power as the great destroyer?

So the quick explanation was welcome, at least I thought so.
And the programme seemed reasonably well-balanced - Jim showed us the devastation of people's lives that can occur when an accident does happen, but he also showed that the illness and death from a leak is nowhere near what the anti's would have us believe, coming down in the end to a sensible conclusion. In other words, 'nuclear power is quite safe if you make sure everything is fail-safe, you don't push old plants beyond their design limits and everyone is trained properly.'

......

GO NUCLEAR!

Yeah Racer X, I'm surprised you haven't spouted more conspiracist crap about how Russia is secretly hacking LFS accounts in order to spy on the West. What's being self-employed got to do with it? The Devs run a business in which they should be polite to customers.

I used to work in customer support (before I got into pre-sales and installations thank god for my sanity) and I lost count of the amount of times I wanted to really lay into a customer and call them retards, (for example a companies intranet page wouldn't work in IE6. I tested IE7, IE8, IE9, Chrome, Firefox and Opera and it worked in every other one. I told them to upgrade because a) it fixed their problem and b) internet explorer 6 is like eating your own poo, but instead of taking my advice I had some Nigerian yelling at me WHAT IS GOING ON HERE I DONT BELIEVE IT WHY HAVE YOU NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM?????!) but at the end of the day you have to be at least pleasant to them.

Another time was how a customer had some login credentials "stolen/lost" and I couldn't reset it because it was an external system outside of our control.. Instead of saying "BLAH BLAH YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, I said something along the lines of "We're sorry you lost your account to <program> but we can't do anything to help you. It's best practise to maintain good security of your account information so you don't lose anything or it's not stolen. We're unable to assist with this matter". I got a THANKS from the customer. You see, I'm basically doing the "it's your problem go away" routine that Victor did in the PM however in a friendly and polite way. It's an email and all it takes is the word "sorry" somewhere (aside from at the beginning of a negative sentence) and then ending with "kind regards" or "many thanks"...so you can still say no but say no in a pleasant manner.

But personal responsibility is a funny thing. 7/10 thefts are preventable. That is, 7/10 times you are burgled because you left a window open, or a door unlocked, left a sat-nav out, laptop bag...weren't "keeping an eye" on your handbag (applicable in your case Racer X)....or it could just be you trusted someone who turned out to be untrustworthy. They are human errors and not deserving of a "won't help you, now piss off" attitude.

So are you saying everyone who's had anything bad happen to them is responsible for it? It's not like a driving license which you can only really lose of have "cloned"... but it's like a PIN code for your debit card. My best friend knows my pin for my debit cards and pretty much all of my passwords to anything and yet nothings been stolen or whatever. Because he is trustworthy. However it's easy to make mistakes. People are not infallible and they cock up and they don't deserve to suffer because of it.

Social engineering is the biggest threat to the world of security, computers, financial, and life in general. It's everywhere, people lie, pretend to be someone who they're not...people are in general good natured and like to trust so they come acropper.

£24 is actually about 20% of my monthly money left over after paying bills, mortgage, car, phone etc, so why should I, if I was in that situation, have to buy another one because one of the developers was too arsey to reset my password for me?

Anyway Russia is not listening and no-one really cares if they were.

Plasti-dip group buy might be going ahead on the ukmkivs mate keep an eye out

I was thinking of getting some to put over my wheels for winter (cheaper than getting a set of winter wheels) but worried about any issues with say, bit of dirt caught under the plasti-dip surface or corrosion, or issues getting it off...

I'd want to try it on something else first like a spare bit of trim or something and see how it goes..

Quote from HVS5b :Either way, its a shitty response from a Dev. Distant and dismissive.

Can't say I'm surprised tho

Quote from spookthehamster :
In my opinion this is extremely harsh of Victor. Everyone gets conned in some way at some point, to say it's his fault for being conned is terrible, no matter what occurred.

Having an experience like this forces people to learn about the risks, and refusing to return his account just rubs salt in the wounds.

:iagree:

Fair enough, don't help the guy. But say so in a decent and non-arsey way. Very arrogrant if you ask me (you didn't but I'm sharing my views anyway).

If this is as much of a problem as Victor makes out (as in it happens to lots of people) why doesn't he (being the master code he is ahem) create a simple account recovery procedure? Completely hands off from his end other than implementing it...so it's a win-win.

Allow users to enter a purchase reference number (or whatever, I presume it's emailed to you...if you log into lfs.net you can see it under "license status"... eg LFS19568791552) which then resets their password, or reset your account passwords back to a randomly generated one by clicking on a link which is sent to your email address. Make it so that email address changes can only be done by confirming you have access to the original email account, if you current LFS email is [email protected] and you want to change it to [email protected] then you'd have to click a verification link in an email sent to [email protected] before it would change your email to [email protected].

You're welcome.

I think we can all safely say the graphics are good. But I mean, to be asking up to Euro.25000 as a "donation" is crap and is probably more out of hope and desperation than any sort of genuine purpose.

People would buy it with only 1 car and track I bet, if the game was good enough...and, like most games like iRacing, LFS, etc, further cars, updates and bugfixes can be released as and when.

Seems like they are wanting to do/asking for too much, too early.
